Measures
Ways to describe or compare persons and societies. Defined only where they are used.
Draft. These measures await the author's approval, together with the part of the
Foundations that introduces them.
- Wisdom
- How much of the full problem network around an action a person knows, compared with the whole network, including the problems of others.
- Consciousness
- Belief about belief.
- Consciousness of a group
- A group is conscious to the degree its members hold beliefs about the group's beliefs. A group whose members all believe in themselves, but not in the group, is not conscious as a group. A group whose members believe in themselves as a group is. Most real groups are somewhere in between, so a group is conscious to some degree, not simply conscious or not.
- Missed potential
- What persons are able and willing to do, but what is not done. See Acting on what is wanted.
- Conflictedness
- How much of what a person wants, believes and fears contradicts itself. Open: whether it means conflict within a person, or also with others.
- Honour
- For later: how strongly a person's actions follow their own value system.
